"Workaholic" on the House Floor


Congressman Denham illustrated his commitment to the American people and national legislature on Capital Hill over the course of this past week. Congressman Denham’s responsibility to the American people was on full display throughout the week, as he co- sponsored the Water Resources Reform Development Act of 2013 (WRRDA) as well as offered to the House floor an amendment to expedite the removal of usable timber from the Yosemite Rim Fire.
These legislative acts signify Congressman Denham’s attempt to further respond to American public pressure to stimulate the job market as well as the economy, through the implementation of water infrastructure projects that keep the United Stated competitive with other nations in national water transportation and usage as well as timber recovery projects that directly help impacted citizens such as farmers and builders (Denham).
Due to Congressman Denham’s experience and active position on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, he possess the experience to co- sponsor along with Chairman Bill Shuster (Committee Chair) such impactful legislation such as the Water Resources Reform Development Act of 2013 (WRRDA). This piece of legislation allows for an increase in job creation, strengthening of our water resources infrastructure, and assists in helping our water projects to be more fiscally responsible (Committee on transportation and Infrastructure 2013). Through Congressman Denham’s active involvement in co-sponsoring this piece of legislation that ultimately increases America’s competitiveness and job creation, Congressman Denham is performing his duty as the framers envisioned, being directly responsible for the betterment of the people and nation as a whole (Denham).
Congressman Denham additionally took the initiative this week to help spur the recovery efforts in the devastated areas that the Yosemite Fire destroyed. Being visible to the American People, thus upholding his responsibility to prioritizing America’s best interest’s, a vision of the framers of the constitution, Congressman Denham proposed to the House floor legislation that would salvage the timber to be “sent to local mills fueling job growth and strengthening local economies by providing revenues to the impacted counties.” (Denham) Through this legislation, lawsuits, litigation, and delays over the use of timber projects that can directly impact residents lives in a positive way can be bypassed, speeding up the recovery in devastated areas impacted by the fire (Denham).     
Congressman Denham over the course of this past week on Capitol Hill has upheld his responsibility to the American people by introducing as well as co- sponsoring legislation on the house floor that attempts to benefit the American population as whole in a positive way. Not only representing his constituents of California’s 19th district but also the entire nation, through Congressman Denham’s experience on certain committees such as the infrastructure and transportation committee has allowed him to have a grave influence on national policy, as seen this week.
