Busy week

Senator Reid last week has been busy. He along with others agree that action is needed in Syria due to Assad's use of chemical weapons. In the Senate building Reid stated that non action would be a bolster to hostile forces of the US and her allies worldwide. He had planned a test vote for Wednesday but since the situation in Syria is in such constant flux Reid has postponed the vote. It seems that Senator Reid wants to make sure that Syria is handled the right way instead of hurriedly and sloppily. Now with the vote of the military strike postponed the Majority Leader turned his attention to an energy efficiency bill making its way through the Senate. The energy effciency bill was written by Senator Jeanne Shaheen. Reid will also be hosting a fundraiser to aid fellow Democrat Alison Grimes. The hope is for her to knock off Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who also happens to be Reid's greatest opposition within Senate. Reid towards the end of last week while discussing the enegry effciency bill lashed out at the last remnants of the congressional tea party calling them anarchists. His distain was specifically directed at the tea party wing of the Republican Party whom he accussed of making it impossible to pass a measure of the energy bill. In kind of more exciting news Reid has also been linked to a draft of a proposal that would deny federal health care to congressmen if there is probable cause that they have solicited prostitutes. This proposal lit a fire under Senator David Vitter's seat, in retaliation he's demanding a formal ethics probe on Reid and Senator Barbra Boxer. Apparently in 2007 Vitter might have had contact with a prostitutes and feels like this is a direct shot at him and that this proposal would tie benefits to ones official duties. Posted at the top is the speech about the anarchists in the Senate.
