Recently, the Republican House members have stated
that they will not support any more funding for Planned Parenthood. Since
Planned Parenthood has had a lot of bad news revolving around it in the past
few weeks, members have made it clear that they would not allow any more of our
money to go towards funding this organization. Planned Parenthood has
been accused of selling baby parts and as anyone can imagine this news has
spread quickly. All of this began when an anti-abortion group leaked undercover
videos of these scandals taking place.
Planned Parenthood has obviously denied all allegations against
them.
A letter has been released
to the GOP members saying that no more funding will be provided. 32
people signed this letter in agreement with the decision. This vote has made
life very difficult for government and also complicates the job of the GOP
leaders. Although all of the conservations are very against continued funding,
it has been made clear that President Obama will not support anything that cuts
spending for Planned Parenthood. Democrats will obviously be siding with the
White House in this situation.
This
spending situation is causing many debates in government and the last thing
anyone wants is a government shutdown. On the other hand, many officials
have made it obvious that they are trying their best to shut down this
organization no matter what it takes. There is a deadline of Oct 1. for
government to get their act together or else there will 100% be a government
shutdown.
In
this situation it is hard to foresee what will happen since the White House is
not on the same side as the majority.
Many members of the House are trying to please their constituents and
the public in making the best decision they possibly could. All of the publicity that this
situation continues to receive is not making anyone’s lives any easier. Who would actually want our tax money going
towards such a horrible organization (if the allegations turn out to be true at
least).
