The senate is
not the only thing that is going nuclear. All jokes aside though Majority
leader Reid and other senators are advancing a bill that would impose stricter
sanctions on Iran. "I will support a bill that would broaden the scope of
our current petroleum sanctions, place limitations on trade with strategic
sectors of the Iranian economy that support its nuclear ambitions, as well as pursue
those who divert goods to Iran," Reid said on the Senate floor. It is
known that the US when it comes to the Middle East has always had a pro-Israel
agenda, and Iran obtaining a nuclear program could be potentially harmful to
our allies or so we are told by a bias media. 14 Democratic and Republican senators issued a
statement later on Thursday saying they would work together "over the
coming weeks" to pass bipartisan legislation to impose new sanctions on
Iran. Its kind of amusing or sad, I'm not sure which, that we can come to the
agreement that Iran shouldn’t have nuclear capabilities but not on universal
healthcare for our own citizens or on who will fill important seats in our judicial
system. It all seems rather sophomoric.[i]
